Washington Commanders RBs Brian Robinson Jr. (11.4) and Austin Ekeler (10.1) ranked first and second among qualified pass-catchers, respectively, in yards after catch per reception in 2023, according to Pro Football Reference.
Huddle Up: Ekeler did his damage with the Los Angeles Chargers last season. His average was not too much more than his career norms. The bigger surprise is Robinson, who has been labeled as more of a power back who does not contribute much in the passing game. Robinson's ranking was obviously boosted by a 51-yard catch-and-score in Week 10, but he was also no stranger to picking up chunks of yards after the catch either. Robinson has a real shot of returning high-end RB2 fantasy value in new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury's uptempo attack this season.

Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels has impressed WR Terry McLaurin during the offseason program with his confidence and command of the offense. "It seemed like he knew the entire offense when we got there," McLaurin said on Friday, June 21. "He's in there calling the huddles through the walkthroughs. He's in there calling the plays, and he's extremely confident. It's a testament to his preparation and his studying that he did on his own. But also, I think the kid loves ball, and he has a good feel for the game."
Huddle Up: As a locked-in starter, Daniels is automatically on the fantasy radar in 2024. But given the fact that he can run with the football and is a promising passer, the No. 2 pick is a viable QB2 with upside from the jump and a player who could outperform his average draft position.

Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels appears to be "entrenched" as the team's starting quarterback, in the opinion of Ralph Vacchiano of FOX Sports. He received the bulk of the snaps with the offensive starters during mandatory minicamp and it is unlikely this situation will change once training camp begins.
Huddle Up: Assuming that Daniels begins the regular season as the Commanders' first-string quarterback, he can be considered a low-end QB1 or high-end QB2 option in most fantasy leagues because of his massive rushing upside. At this stage of his career, he also appears to be further along as a passer than most other dual-threat quarterbacks.

Washington Commanders first-round draft choice QB Jayden Daniels (Louisiana State) signed a four-year contract worth $37.7 million - including a $24.3 million signing bonus - on Friday, June 14. The deal includes a fifth-year team option.
Huddle Up: Daniels has yet to be named the starting quarterback in Washington, but it appears as if it will only be a matter of time before it happens during training camp. When it happens, the No. 2 overall choice in this spring's draft should immediately be considered a low-end fantasy QB1 at worst given his massive rushing upside. He is also much further along than most dual-threat quarterbacks as a passer, so he is much more than a one-trick pony.

Washington Commanders QBs Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota each saw significant snaps with the first team during the spring and nothing has been determined yet in regards to which one will start the season, according to head coach Dan Quinn on Thursday, June 13.
Huddle Up: By all accounts, Daniels has been sharp so far - a sentiment that Quinn confirmed Thursday. It would likely take a meltdown of epic proportions for the No. 2 overall pick in this spring's draft to not win the job. Assuming that is the case, Daniels' combination of anticipation and athleticism should make him a strong fantasy QB1 option right out of the gate.

Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels worked with the first-team offense during team drills at practice Tuesday, June 12, according to ESPN.com's John Keim.
Huddle Up: Daniels likely will be the starting quarterback for Washington this season, but it is not known if he will open training camp as the starter. He may be considered a No. 2 quarterback at this point but will have a chance to become a No. 1 fantasy quarterback during the season.

Washington Commanders RB Austin Ekeler was spotted returning kicks at minicamp Tuesday, June 11.
Huddle Up: This wouldn't add anything much more than a heightened injury risk to his fantasy value. He'll be a RB2 in PPR leagues and a flex candidate in non-PPR formats.

Washington Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. said the team plans to run more no-huddle plays in the offense in 2024.
Huddle Up: B-Rob Jr. was the RB21 in PPR leagues in a rather healthy season of 15 games. He had a 178-733-5 line on the ground and 36-368-4 line through the air. He should remain heavily involved, and the best-case scenario would be to land Antonio Gibson as your RB4 to handcuff to him. Gibson was the RB39 last season.

Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels said he has not been told if he will start right away, but the team said he will be the starter when he is ready.
Huddle Up: Daniels likely will enter training camp as the leading candidate for the starting job and should win the job if unless he struggles during practices and the preseason. He can be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in fantasy leagues at the start of the season but could become a low-end No. 1 QB in some deeper leagues if he is productive.

Kansas State TE Ben Sinnott was selected by the Washington Commanders with the 53rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: Sinnott may have a chance to compete for a starting job during training camp, so fantasy players can monitor the situation. He probably will not be more than a No. 2 tight end in any fantasy drafts.

Louisiana State QB Jayden Daniels has been selected by the Washington Commanders with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: Daniels should be the leading candidate for the starting job entering training camp and likely will be under center Week 1. He can be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback at this time but has the chance to become a low-end No. 1 fantasy QB early because of his running ability.

Louisiana State University QB Jayden Daniels "has an interest in being other places" than with the Washington Commanders, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter during his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday, April 19.
Huddle Up: It should come as no surprise anymore when reports like this surface as teams do their best smokescreen jobs less than a week before the start of the draft. While anything is possible, this report seems like it could have happened after Daniels' agent expressed displeasure with Washington hosting four quarterbacks at roughly the same time earlier this week. It seems unlikely Daniels himself would object to throwing the ball to Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Zach Ertz and Austin Ekeler. If Daniels is truly not thrilled about Washington, the Minnesota Vikings and Las Vegas Raiders would seem to be the two most likely teams to trade up for him.

LSU QB Jayden Daniels is set to meet with the New England Patriots, Washington Commanders, New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders after his Pro Day workout Wednesday, March 27.
Huddle Up: Daniels is slated to be a top-three pick in the NFL Draft and could be an upside QB2 in fantasy as a rookie.

Free-agent QB Marcus Mariota (Eagles) agreed to a one-year, $6 million deal with the Washington Commanders Tuesday, March 12. The deal could be worth $10 million after incentives.
Huddle Up: He figures to be a placeholder for whoever the team decides to take at No. 2 overall in the NFL draft. He could be an early season matchup play.

Impending free-agent RB Austin Ekeler (Chargers) agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Washington Commanders Monday, March 11, worth as much as $11.43 million, according to sources.
Huddle Up: Ekeler likely will share playing time with Brian Robinson Jr. but should see a decent amount of touches each game. He probably can be considered a No. 2 running back or flex option most weeks next season.

Free-agent TE Zach Ertz (Lions) is signing a one-year deal worth up to $5 million with the Washington Commanders, per source on Wednesday, March 6.
Huddle Up: Ertz appeared in seven games for the Arizona Cardinals in 2023 but didn't produce much, tallying 27 catches for 187 yards and one touchdown. He ended up signing to the Lions' practice squad but didn't see any action. In fairness to Ertz, Arizona's quarterback situation was a mess with Kyler Murray on the shelf for much of the season. However, with Ertz turning 34 in November, it remains to be seen how much he has left in the tank, and he might be catching passes from a rookie signal-caller. We'll have to see it to believe it before considering Ertz a viable fantasy option in 2024.

LSU QB Jayden Daniels is receiving interest from the Las Vegas Raiders, who are expected to be aggressive in moving up from pick No. 13 to the top three.
Huddle Up: Daniels figures to be a QB2 project in fantasy as a rookie no matter where he's drafted.

LSU QB Jayden Daniels will meet with teams but will not participate in throwing drills at the NFL Scouting Combine. LSU's Pro Day is set for March 27.
Huddle Up: Daniels could be a mid-first-round pick or slip into the top 10. He'll be a long-term asset in fantasy and may not provide as much upside in single-year leagues as other rookies.

Los Angeles Chargers impending free-agent RB Austin Ekeler is a player head coach Jim Harbaugh said he would like the team to re-sign this offseason.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players will need to monitor the situation to see where Ekeler plays next season. He is coming off a disappointing 2023 season but still probably will be able to find a starting a job with a team. He can be a starting option in most fantasy leagues if he plays better next season.

Detroit Lions TE Zach Ertz is in shape and will practice with the team but his status for the NFC Championship Game remains up in the air, head coach Dan Cambell said on Wednesday, Jan. 24. "We're going to gauge this and see where he's at," Campbell said.
Huddle Up: While Ertz is a fantastic late-season addition for the Lions, he'll be stuck behind Sam LaPorta and there's no telling what he'll be able to contribute after not playing at all this season. He shouldn't be in lineups in any format.

Washington Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 29, but is not on the injury report for Week 17.
Huddle Up: Robinson likely will return to the lineup this week and should receive most of the carries in the running game. He can be a No. 2 running back or flex option in most fantasy leagues.

Washington Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 28.
Huddle Up: Robinson seems to have a good chance to play in Week 17 as long as he does not suffer a setback. He will receive most of the work at running back if he plays and can be at least a flex option in fantasy leagues.

Washington Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, Dec. 28.
Huddle Up: Tough break for the sixth-round rookie, who had a 10-58-2 line on the ground last week. Brian Robinson Jr. was limited in practice Wednesday, and if he's able to go, B-Rob and Antonio Gibson will be the only backs on this team worth having for now.

Washington Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Washington Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. (ankle) had a walking boot on his right foot in the locker room following the Week 16 game against the New York Jets.
Huddle Up: Rodriguez had a strong showing against the Jets, but he apparently injured his ankle during the performance. Rodriguez may have played his way into a bigger role, but he will have to be healthy before he can try to for a repeat effort in Week 17.

Washington Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. (hamstring) was ruled out for Week 16 against the New York Jets on Friday, Dec. 22.
Huddle Up: Fantasy managers should look forward to another week of seeing rookie Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Antonio Gibson split carries, while the latter handles a bit more of the receiving work. Neither player figures to be anything more than a middling flex option this week against a defense that should keep Washington in check.
