Washington Commanders first-round draft choice WR Jahan Dotson signed a four-year contract with the Commanders Wednesday, May 18, worth around $15.05 million, according to a source. The deal includes a fifth-year option.
Huddle Up: Dotson has a good chance to win the starting job opposite Terry McLaurin this upcoming season. He should see plenty of targets each game and can be a No. 3 or No. 4 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Negotiations on a contract extension between the Washington Commanders and WR Terry McLaurin ''haven't really started,'' according to SI.com's Albert Breer.
Huddle Up: The 26-year-old McLaurin had 77 receptions for 1,053 yards and five touchdowns in 2021 and serves Washington's primary receiving threat. He could sit out most of the Commanders' offseason workouts due to the contract situation but can be viewed as a solid WR2 option in fantasy leagues when active, with WR1 upside depending on quarterback play.

Washington Commanders WR Jahan Dotson has the skills to be a ''high-usage'' receiver, according to head coach Ron Rivera, and Rivera said he has ''zero questions'' about Dotson's game.
Huddle Up: Dotson will likely have the chance to be a starter across from Terry McLaurin, and if he does open the year as Washington's No. 2 receiver, he will be worth a look as a WR4 with upside.

Washington Commanders TE Cole Turner has the potential to be used more as a big wide receiver in the passing game rather than a traditional tight end, a league source told JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington. Turner was a fifth-round pick by the Commanders in the 2022 NFL draft.
Huddle Up: As veteran TE Logan Thomas continues his recovery from December ACL surgery, Turner may have a chance to work his way up the depth chart. While rookie TEs rarely produce immediately for fantasy, if the Commanders view him more as a receiving option, it could lead to them using more two TE sets. Given Thomas' injury history, there is a chance for the 6-foot-6, 249-pound Turner to prove himself worthy of a receiving role. At best, Turner may challenge Thomas for some third-down snaps, and the rookie could easily beat out John Bates for the second spot on the depth chart with a strong training camp. Turner isn't draft worthy yet for fantasy managers, but if he makes noise during the preseason, there's a path as a potential streamer if things go his way.

Washington Commanders RBs Brian Robinson Jr. was chosen in the 2022 NFL Draft with an eye on pairing him with Antonio Gibson in the same kind of way head coach Ron Rivera utilized DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart with the Carolina Panthers from 2011-14, according to Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan.
Huddle Up: Robinson is a pure power running back, so he would take on the Stewart role if this plan comes to fruition. In roughly one year, it also appears as if Rivera has shifted from using Gibson like Christian McCaffrey to using him more like what he did with his running backs for most of his time with the Panthers. The problem for both players is that J.D. McKissic will still be the primary option on passing downs. What it means is that Robinson should be treated more like a high-end handcuff and Gibson more as a middling RB2.

Washington Commanders QB Sam Howell is likely to have more time to develop his game before being thrust into action as the team takes a more long-term approach, according to head coach Ron Rivera. ''We told him, 'hey look, this is an opportunity to come in, no pressure to play right away so you can develop and grow. And who knows, down the line at some point, you're going to get that opportunity. But right now, we feel very good with Carson [Wentz] and very good with Taylor [Heinicke] as our two quarterbacks,'' said Rivera on The Rich Eisen Show on Tuesday, May 3.
Huddle Up: Despite being a projected Day 2 pick in the draft, Howell slipped to the fifth round where the Commanders finally stopped the skid. It seems they are fully committed to Wentz as the starter after trading for him this offseason, but given the volatility he showed in 2021, a change under center wouldn't be unprecedented. Heinicke would likely be the next man up, but Howell could provide some stiff competition during training camp. Howell doesn't have fantasy value outside of a very deep stash in superflex formats, especially if the Commanders stay true to their word of working toward the long term.

North Carolina QB Sam Howell was selected by the Washington Commanders with the 144th overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: Howell probably will be the team's No. 3 quarterback in 2022 but could be the long-term QB for Washington if he can develop. Fantasy players can avoid him this season but may want to keep an eye on him.

Alabama RB Brian Robinson Jr. was selected by the Washington Commanders with the 98th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: Robinson doesn't have a obvious path to a sizeable role as a rookie, but he would become a worthwhile addition if Antonio Gibson were to miss time.

Penn State WR Jahan Dotson was selected by the Washington Commanders with the 16th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: Dotson should be a top-three receiver for Washington as a rookie. He can be a possible No. 3 or No. 4 receiver in most fantasy leagues as long as he can stay healthy.

Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin is expected to skip on-field drills during offseason workouts because of his contract situation, but general manager Martin Mayhew said the team has talked with McLaurin's representatives about a contract extension.
Huddle Up: McLaurin may sit out of most of offseason workouts because of the contract situation, but the two sides have several months to reach an agreement. He has been a reliable receiver for the last several seasons and will be a weekly starting option in fantasy leagues.

Washington Commanders TE Logan Thomas (knee) has started jogging as part of his rehab and said he has been told that he is ahead of schedule.
Huddle Up: Thomas probably will not do much during the offseason but has a chance to be on the field during training camp. He was playing well before the injury and could be a low-end No. 1 fantasy tight end if he is ready for Week 1.

Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin will not take part in on-field work during the team's offseason program until he receives a new contract, according to sources.
Huddle Up: There isn't anything to be worried about here until McLaurin holds out, but there's nothing to suggest he'll do that. McLaurin is a solid WR2 with WR1 upside depending on quarterback play.

Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin has not received a contract extension offer from the team at this point, according to a source.
Huddle Up: McLaurin will be entering the final year of his current contract, so there is a good chance the two sides agree to a new deal at some point. He will continue to be the focal point in the passing game for the Commanders and can be a No. 2 fantasy receiver in most leagues.

Free-agent RB J.D. McKissic (Commanders) agreed to a two-year, $7 million deal with the Buffalo Bills Tuesday, March 15.
Huddle Up: McKissic is a good receiver, evidenced by his 43-397-2 line through the air last year. He could push or ultimately replace Devin Singletary in the backfield. Watch this situation as McKissic is a RB3 for now in PPR.

Indianapolis Colts QB Carson Wentz was acquired by the Washington Commanders Wednesday, March 9, for a package that is believed to include two third-round picks.
Huddle Up: Wentz has a couple of weapons around him, but his fantasy value takes a hit leaving Indy. He'll be a meager QB2 that only has upside in two-QB leagues.

Washington Commanders impending free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is not expected to re-sign with Washington this offseason since head coach Ron Rivera said the team is moving forward at the quarterback situation.
Huddle Up: Teams will be looking for new quarterbacks this offseason, but Fitzpatrick may have to settle for a backup job next season. He can be avoided in most leagues even if he finds a starting job.

Indianapolis Colts QB Carson Wentz's future with the team remains uncertain, general manager Chris Ballard said Tuesday, March 1. 'Not saying we don't, but in the long-term best interest for us, as we sit down and work through whether Carson's the long-term best answer or not is the best way I can put it,' Ballard said. 'We're not there yet.'
Huddle Up: The Colts clearly aren't sold on Wentz as a long-term solution at quarterback, but he may be back under center in 2022 if a better alternative isn't available. There is a good chance Wentz could start somewhere next season, but he's no more than a matchup-based streaming option in most fantasy leagues.

Indianapolis Colts QB Carson Wentz recently worked out with WRs Michael Pittman Jr. and Dezmon Patmon.
Huddle Up: Wentz's future with the Colts remains uncertain, so fantasy players can monitor the situation. He likely will be a starting option for a team next season but is only a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin is a player that should receive contract extension in the near future, according to head coach Ron Rivera.
Huddle Up: McLaurin has been a productive receiver for Washington no matter the quarterback and will continue to be the No. 1 receiver as long as he is healthy. He should be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Washington Commanders TE Logan Thomas (knee) ranks third in receiving yards in the red zone among tight ends over the past two seasons while missing 11 games.
Huddle Up: The quarterback situation in Washington has been far from ideal, but Thomas' size and athleticism has made him a go-to target in the red zone for whoever has been under center. After suffering a major knee injury late last season, he is far from a safe pick, but Thomas will have TE1 upside if he is healthy.

Washington Commanders impending free-agent RB J.D. McKissic is a player the Commanders want to re-sign this offseason.
Huddle Up: McKissic was a valuable part of the offense this season with 609 total yards in 11 games. He will see a decent amount of touches each game if he returns to Washington and can be a possible flex option in most leagues.

Indianapolis Colts QB Carson Wentz is expected to be traded or released by March 18, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Wentz would have his $22 million base salary guaranteed if he is still on the roster March 18 and would also receive a $6.29 million roster bonus.
Huddle Up: It looks like Wentz will be looking for a new team next season, but fantasy players will know more closer to the start of free agency. Wentz struggled at times this season but has a decent chance to find a starting job since multiple teams will be looking for a starter. He should be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in 2022.

Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor said he expects QB Carson Wentz to be the Colts quarterback next season.
Huddle Up: Wentz played well at times this season but was not able to lead the Colts to the playoffs. Fantasy players will need to monitor the situation to see if Wentz will be the starter next season. He likely will only be a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Washington Football Team impending free-agent RB J.D. McKissic said he wants to re-sign with Washington this offseason.
Huddle Up: McKissic finished the season with 609 total yards and four touchdowns this season and was a reliable contributor for Washington. He will have a similar role if he re-signs and can be a flex option in point-per-reception leagues.

Indianapolis Colts QB Carson Wentz was the subject of questions following the season-ending defeat, and head coach Frank Reich was noncommittal on Wentz as the starter next year. 'We loved the team we had this year, we knew everyone we brought in this year, we expected to play winning football,' Reich said instead. 'Next year's roster will be next year's roster. I don't want to open it up about one player and then start talking about all of them.'
Huddle Up: Wentz was 14th in fantasy points at the position despite playing in all 17 games. This appears to be what he is - a QB2 that can be used in good matchups.

Washington Football Team RB Antonio Gibson (hip) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 7, and is not on the injury report for Week 18.
Huddle Up: Gibson should receive most of the carries in the running game this week and can be a No. 2 running back or flex option in fantasy leagues.

Washington Football Team WR Curtis Samuel (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Jan. 7, and has been ruled out for Week 18.
Huddle Up: Samuel finishes with the season with only six receptions and 27 yards after missing most of the year because of injuries. Terry McLaurin is the only Washington receiver that should be a starting option in leagues.

Washington Football Team RB Antonio Gibson (hip) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 6.
Huddle Up: Gibson was unavailable for the last game but should receive a majority of the work at running back this week. He can be considered a No. 2 running back or flex option in fantasy leagues.

Washington Football Team RB Antonio Gibson (hip) was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 5.
Huddle Up: Gibson is off the COVID-19 list and should be able to play in the Week 18 as long as he does not suffer a setback. He has played well at times this season and can be a No. 2 running back or flex option in fantasy leagues.
