Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (ankle) will be evaluated Monday, Sept. 16, after suffering a sprained ankle Sunday night.
Huddle Up: Mixon had his toe stuck in the ground while a defender came down on the ankle. He returned to the game but was not the same. It's premature to assess anything, but it looked like something that could linger. Cam Akers rushed seven times for 32 yards last night and could be in line for a bigger role, depending on Dameon Pierce's (hamstring) status.

Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (ankle) carried the ball nine times for 25 yards against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Sept. 15. He added three receptions (on five targets) for 25 yards. As previously noted, he suffered an ankle injury during the game, and while he did return, he did not resume a full workload.
Huddle Up: You'll need to take Mixon's production with a grain of salt given what happened to his ankle, and clearly the team was concerned about his condition since they used Cam Akers with a chance to salt the game away deep in Bears territory. Akers fumbled, Chicago recovered, and the Texans had to hang on for a one-score victory. Keep an eye on Mixon's status heading into Week 3. If he's ready to roll, Mixon belongs right back in your lineup as an RB2. If not, Akers and/or Dameon Pierce (hamstring), who didn't play Sunday night because of a hamstring injury, should handle the backfield duties.

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (ankle) was able to return to the lineup in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears late in the third quarter.
Huddle Up: Mixon missed a good chunk of the third quarter after what looked like a possible hip-drop tackle, sending the talented back to the locker room. We'll see if he can finish out, and finish up strong. The good news is that he is back.

Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (ankle) suffered an apparent right ankle injury in the third quarter of the Week 2 game against the Chicago Bears, and he initially headed to the blue medical tent before eventually heading to the locker room.
Huddle Up: With Mixon off, and Dameon Pierce already inactive, journeyman Cam Akers is in the backfield for Houston, with Dare Ogunbowale is also up for the team. If Mixon is out, it appears Akers is next in line.

Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon rushed 30 times for 159 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts in his team debut, and he added three receptions for 19 yards on his three targets.
Huddle Up: Mixon had just one 100-yard game last season, and that came in Week 18 after most fantasy playoffs ended. The 159 rushing yards were his most since going for 165 yards and two scores against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Nov. 28, 2021 as member of the Cincinnati Bengals. Mixon is still just 28 years old, and he has plenty left in the tank. He is a solid RB2 in most fantasy leagues, and he'll look to keep it going in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football.

Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon was brought in because the team believes he will be a "major factor" in the red zone, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.com.
Huddle Up: Mixon finds himself as the lead back in a talented Houston offense, and touchdown opportunities should be plentiful. Volume and opportunity alone should push him into the top of the RB2 tier.

Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (quad) "displayed explosiveness during a (recent) joint practice session against the Los Angeles Rams and appears to be fully recovered from the quad injury that caused him to miss the majority of the preseason, according to KPRC's Aaron Wilson. "Joe will be doing what he's done his entire career. I don't think you'll see anything different. He's a strong, physical back. He's going to get yards. So, I'm excited about seeing Joe run the ball behind our offensive line," head coach DeMeco Ryans told reporters on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
Huddle Up: Mixon was not an efficient back in Cincinnati despite the Bengals' ridiculous talent in the passing game, but the 28-year-old will get another crack to anchor a ground game attached to a dynamic passing attack. Ryans' comments would suggest he will get his usual 300-plus touches, which will be enough to keep him firmly in the high-end RB2 conversation at worst.

Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon is fully healthy after a preseason quadriceps injury and is expected to have a heavy workload in the offense, Aaron Wilson of Click2Houston.com wrote on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Huddle Up: Mixon has Dameon Pierce and Cam Akers behind him, but he was always expected to at least lead the group. After finishing as RB11 overall in points per game last season, Mixon stands to receive a heavy workload in an explosive offense that should offer plenty of touchdown chances. He's an RB2 with RB1 upside if everything pans out.

Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon is not playing in the preseason Week 2 game on Saturday, Aug. 17. Mixon returned to practice earlier in the week after recovering from a quadriceps injury.

Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (quadriceps) is expected to receive some playing time during the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 17.
Huddle Up: Mixon missed the early part of training camp because of the injury but returned to practice this week and is on track for his first game. He should receive plenty of touches during the season and can be a weekly starting option in fantasy leagues.
