Updating previous reports, Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (foot) is dealing with an intrinsic muscle strain in his foot as opposed to plantar fasciitis, according to Mickey Spagnola of the team's website.
Huddle Up: The foot's intrinsic muscles stabilize the foot much like the core muscles in a person's spine stabilizes and protects the spine. Neither the team nor Cooper seem overly concerned about the injury, so fantasy owners can probably breathe easy ... for now. Nevertheless, expect Cooper to get rest days and be a regular on the injury report this season.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott reportedly received a contract extension offer from the team that would make him one of the two highest-paid running backs in the league, according to a source.
Huddle Up: This would suggest the offer was somewhere between Le'Veon Bell's four-year deal worth $52.5 million and Todd Gurley's four-year pact worth $57.5 million. The fact he hasn't already signed the offer is a pretty good indication he wants more than Gurley. There has been much optimism that Elliott's deal will get done before the start of the regular season, but the clock is ticking. Owners need to start preparing for the possibility he could miss - or be limited at the very least - for the first couple weeks of the season.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is continuing to work out at a 'great facility' in Cabo San Lucas, according to agent Rocky Arceneaux. There has been no real activity on contract negotiations.
Huddle Up: Elliott will remain a high draft risk until he reports to the Cowboys, as he has threatened to not play until his contract issues are resolved. He could be the RB1, or he could miss a considerable amount of regular-season time.

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten said he experienced some jitters Saturday, Aug. 17, as he made his return to live action for the first time since ending his one-year retirement. Witten caught one pass for 10 yards in the Cowboys' preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams. 'A year away from the game, all the work to get back here since March, getting in shape, getting your body ready, having an opportunity, I know I've got a lot to prove,' Witten said. 'It wasn't perfect. I thought we're on schedule with the things I want to work on. Able to get a third-down conversion. Dak showed he had the confidence on that. Some of the other things in the passing game, running game, I felt good with. It's always tricky when you're coming back out here ... so the jitters were real. A lot of work to get back to here, but it felt good.'
Huddle Up: Witten's return to the Cowboys will mean a lot more in reality than fantasy, where he isn't a consideration outside of super-deep and tight end-premium leagues.

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (heel) is dealing with a heel muscle strain but could play at some point during the preseason.
Huddle Up: The Cowboys likely are taking things slow with Cooper since he does not need a lot of playing time in the preseason. Fantasy players can monitor the situation, but Cooper likely will be a No. 2 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott's weight is in the low 220s, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Thursday, Aug. 15. It's Elliott's lowest weight since his rookie year, a source adds. Elliott remains away from the team during a contract holdout but will be ready to play as soon as he signs.
Huddle Up: This obviously changes nothing about the immense risk in drafting Elliott before he returns to the team. If he reports, he's an elite talent capable of being fantasy's RB1, but the risk is not having him for a large part of the season. It is good to know he'll be able to step right into game action without missing any additional time.

Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said Tuesday, Aug. 13, he's willing to continue contract negotiations with QB Dak Prescott, RB Ezekiel Elliott and WR Amari Cooper in the regular season.
Huddle Up: This is least promising for Elliott, who has said he won't play this season without a new deal. With Jerry apparently willing to play hardball, drafting the elite running back won't be for the faint of heart.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott's return in time for the season opener against the New York Giants may have no better than a 50-50 proposition, according to comments made by CBS Sports color analyst Tony Romo.
Huddle Up: Romo's opinion is notable here because he should know a little bit about the inner workings of team owner Jerry Jones and the way the team goes about its business given his ties to the franchise. Owners can probably hold out hope a little bit longer, but if Zeke hasn't returned by the end of next week, he will almost certainly not be as ready physically as he needs to be for the opener. He's shaping up to be the biggest risk-reward pick in the first round of fantasy drafts.

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (heel) did not participate in practice Thursday, Aug. 8, and has missed the last five practices.
Huddle Up: The Cowboys can be cautious with Cooper, so he could miss more practices because of the injury. He played very well after joining the Cowboys last season and will be the main option in the passing game again this season. He should be a solid No. 2 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (heel) exited practice with a heel bruise Saturday, Aug. 3, but David Helman of DallasCowboys.com said the injury didn't look like a 'huge deal.'
Huddle Up: Cooper wasted no time becoming the go-to weapon in the passing game after coming aboard last year, and he should be a solid WR1 in his first full season with Cowboys.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott's agents have told the team he will not play in 2019 without a new contract, a source told ESPN's Josina Anderson on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
Huddle Up: Elliott should still be valued as an upper-echelon RB1 with the Cowboys' preseason yet to even begin, but as the 2018's Le'Veon Bell situation taught us, a season-long holdout can't be totally discounted. The longer this impasse lasts, the farther Elliott needs to fall in your RB rankings.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott hasn't yet made a counter offer to the team as of Sunday, July 28, as he continues his holdout from training camp.
Huddle Up: It's still July with plenty of time to get things resolved, and that's why Elliott remains a near-consensus top-four fantasy back.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott has received a contract extension offer from the Cowboys, but the team has not received a counteroffer from Elliott's representatives at this point, according to sources.
Huddle Up: Elliott is skipping the start of training camp because of his contract situation, but it appears both sides are talking about an extension. Elliott will be one of the top running backs in fantasy leagues this season as long as he does not have a lengthy holdout.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott's agent talked with the Cowboys Thursday, July 25, about his contract situation, according to a source. Elliott did not report for the start of training camp Friday, July 26.
Huddle Up: Elliott is looking for a contract extension and is willing to hold out at this point. Fantasy players should monitor the situation to see when Elliott will report to camp. He is one of the best fantasy running backs in the NFL and will be a top-five pick in all leagues.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is expected to report to training camp on time, according to head coach Jason Garrett.
Huddle Up: Elliott is looking for a long-term extension, but he may decide against a hold out this season. Elliott will receive a lot of touches in 2019 and should be one of the first running backs selected in fantasy drafts.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is believed to be making plans for an out-of-country trip to begin a holdout as his teammates report to training camp in the coming week, a source said Saturday, July 20.
Huddle Up: A situation to closely monitor as Elliott is a near-consensus top-five overall fantasy pick. Currently listed behind him on the depth chart are second-year back Darius Jackson and rookies Tony Pollard and Mike Weber -- names that will become much more familiar should Elliott's holdout linger into mid-August.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott has privately said he intends to hold out of training camp unless he gets a new contract, according to Pro football Talk's Mike Florio via a league source.
Huddle Up: Elliott still has two years left on his rookie contract, so this is a bit different than Melvin Gordon's situation. Unlike most of the running backs in the NFL in today's game, the two-time Pro Bowler has slightly more leverage here due to the lack of depth Dallas has at the position and how important he is to the Cowboys' offense. It's unlikely he'll hold out into the regular season though. However, if he does, rookies Mike Weber and Tony Pollard would likely split touches.

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott doesn't plan to give his team a hometown discount when it comes to negotiating a contract extension. He is entering the final season of his current contract but no deal appears to be imminent.
Huddle Up: Prescott posted solid numbers toward the end of last season, completing 72 percent of his passes for 18 touchdowns and four interceptions after the midseason acquisition of WR Amari Cooper. Based on his potential and the offensive weapons surrounding him, he should be viewed as a low-end QB1 in most formats, although he could be drafted at a mid-range QB2 price tag in many leagues.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott's 5,247 yards from scrimmage are the fourth most by a player before their 24th birthday in NFL history.
Huddle Up: That stat is even more impressive when you consider that Elliott missed six games due to a suspension. With two rushing titles in three seasons and coming off a career-high 77 receptions in 2018, he's in the mix to be the No. 1 overall pick in fantasy drafts.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott has been informed that he will not be suspended by the NFL for his off-field incident in May.
Huddle Up: Elliott is one of the top running backs in the NFL and will receive plenty of work this season. He should be a first-round pick in all fantasy leagues.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is not expected to be suspended after meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday, July 2, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Elliott was detained in May for an off-field incident in Las Vegas, Nev.
Huddle Up: Garafolo added nothing is known for sure about Goodell's upcoming decision, so fantasy managers will need to continue monitoring the situation. Elliott shouldn't be slipping out of the first round, however.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is scheduled to meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell Tuesday, July 2, to discuss an off-field incident he had in May, according to a source. Elliott was detained during the incident but was not arrested.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players should monitor the situation to see if Elliott receives any punishment for the incident. He will be a No. 1 running back in all fantasy leagues in 2019 but would take a dip in value if he misses any time.

If Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott carries over his upward trajectory from the second half of the 2018 season and the postseason, the team's offense could reach the 'next level,' in the opinion of Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.
Huddle Up: Prescott finished 2018 strong and is a player with QB1 potential you can get for a QB2 price in drafts this summer.

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper said he is looking to post 2,000 yards this upcoming season.
Huddle Up: Cooper was fantastic after he was acquired by the Cowboys last season and will continue to be the main option in the passing game for Dallas. Cooper should be a solid No. 2 receiver for fantasy players.

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper says he's not a top-five NFL receiver -- at the moment. 'It's something I think I can prove this year, not sure if I've proved it yet, but I plan on doing it this year,' Cooper told USA Today Sports' Trysta Krick. 'I think I definitely have the mentality and skill set to be a top-five receiver, that's no doubt. But have I proven it? I don't know. I really want to set out and prove it.'
Huddle Up: Cooper averaged 5.9 receptions and 80.6 yards and scored six TDs in his nine games with the Cowboys last season, and while he's not expected to be a top-five wideout in fantasy, he is a borderline WR1.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is unlikely to get an extension in 2019 or next offseason, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Dan Graziano. Elliott's option for 2020 is worth $9.099 million, and the team feels good about franchise tag numbers on him in 2021.
Huddle Up: Elliott remains one of the best options at the position in the first round of drafts.
